About Chelsea

Chelsea were founded in 1905 at the Rising Sun pub opposite Stamford Bridge, a ground that was already in use by an athletics club. The club has played at Stamford Bridge ever since.

Chelsea won their first league title in 1954/55 and then waited 50 years for the next, which came in 2004/05 under Jose Mourinho. Since then the club has added four more league titles, the Champions League in 2012 and 2021, and the Club World Cup in 2025, and it is one of the most successful English clubs of the Premier League era.

Frank Lampard is the club’s record goalscorer with 211 goals, and Ron Harris holds the appearance record with 795. Chelsea play in royal blue, and the lion on the club crest has been part of its identity for much of its history.
