About Coventry City

Coventry City were founded in 1883 as Singers FC, a works team formed by employees of the Singer cycle company, and took the name Coventry City in 1898. The club played at Highfield Road from 1899 until 2005 and now plays at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Coventry spent 34 consecutive seasons in the top flight from 1967 to 2001, and their finest day came in the 1987 FA Cup final, when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 at Wembley. After relegation in 2001 the club spent two decades outside the Premier League, then returned after winning the 2025/26 Championship.

Coventry play in sky blue, a colour that gives the club its nickname, the Sky Blues, and has long been central to its identity.
