About Everton

Everton were founded in 1878 as St Domingo’s, a church team, and took the name Everton a year later. The club was a founding member of the Football League in 1888 and played at Goodison Park from 1892 until 2025, when it moved to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton have spent more seasons in the English top flight than almost any other club, and won nine league titles, the last in 1986/87. Dixie Dean’s 60 league goals in 1927/28 remain the record for a single English top-flight season.

Dixie Dean is the club’s record goalscorer with 383 goals, and goalkeeper Neville Southall holds the appearance record with 751. Everton play in royal blue, and the club’s nickname, the Toffees, is linked to a local toffee shop.
