About Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest were founded in 1865, making them one of the oldest professional clubs in the world, and have played at the City Ground since 1898. The stadium stands on the banks of the River Trent, close to the home of neighbours Notts County.

Brian Clough took over in 1975 and led Forest to promotion in 1977 and then the league title in 1977/78, in the club’s first season back in the top flight. Forest followed it with back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980, a feat few clubs have matched.

Forest play in red shirts and are nicknamed the Tricky Trees. The club has won the European Cup twice but the league title only once, one of the most unusual honours records in English football.
