About Hamburger SV

Hamburger SV trace their origins to 1887 and took their current form in 1919, and play at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. For decades the club was known as Der Dino, the dinosaur, because it was the only team to have played in every Bundesliga season since 1963, until relegation in 2018.

HSV won the German championship six times, including the Bundesliga in 1978/79, 1981/82 and 1982/83, and the European Cup in 1983, when a goal by Felix Magath beat Juventus 1-0 in the final in Athens. The club also won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1976/77 and the DFB-Pokal three times.
