About Real Madrid

Real Madrid were founded in 1902 as Madrid Football Club and received the royal title Real in 1920. The club moved into the Santiago Bernabéu in 1947, named after the president who built the modern club and whose signings, including Alfredo Di Stéfano, powered the team to the first five European Cups from 1956 to 1960.

Real Madrid have won the European Cup and Champions League 15 times, more than any other club, and the most La Liga titles with 36. The club’s identity was also shaped by the Quinta del Buitre team of the 1980s and the Galácticos era of the early 2000s, built around stars such as Zinedine Zidane, Luís Figo and Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the club’s record goalscorer with 450 goals, and Raúl holds the appearance record with 741. Real Madrid play in all white, which earned them the nickname Los Blancos.
