About Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town were founded in 1878 and turned professional in 1936. The club has played at Portman Road since 1884.

Under Alf Ramsey, Ipswich won the Second Division in 1960/61 and then the First Division title in 1961/62, in their first season in the top flight. Bobby Robson later built a side that won the FA Cup in 1978 and the UEFA Cup in 1981.

Ipswich play in blue and white, and the nickname Tractor Boys reflects the rural setting of Suffolk. The club’s tradition of attractive football under Ramsey and Robson shaped its identity for decades.
