About Newcastle United

Newcastle United were formed in 1892 by the merger of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End, and have played at St James’ Park ever since. The stadium sits in the heart of the city and is one of the largest club grounds in England.

Newcastle won four league titles between 1904/05 and 1926/27 and six FA Cups between 1910 and 1955, then went decades without a major trophy. The wait ended in 2025, when Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 in the League Cup final at Wembley, the club’s first major domestic trophy since 1955.

Alan Shearer is the club’s record goalscorer with 206 goals. Newcastle play in black and white stripes, and their nickname, the Magpies, comes from the shirt colours. The Geordie support is regarded as one of the most loyal in English football.
